Consumer law is the name given to the set of rules issued by the authorities for the protection of consumers or users in the market for goods and services, granting and regulating certain rights and obligations.

Overall, consumer or user is considered to be any natural or legal person who contracts for consideration for final consumption or own benefit, or their family or social group, the acquisition or lease of goods or the provision of services or lease of them.

The consumer law is not an autonomous branch of law, but a cross-discipline, with elements that fall under the commercial law, civil law and others within the Administrative Law and even the Procedural Law.
